# Lose Myself
That's the title of the new song we sang at YA today, once again by Jeff Deyo. Im gonna start with my saturday post cuz weekends jz rock because of church!!
Saturday
No tuition this morning so no need to wake up early. But i still had to wake up early. Sounds so lame. But oh well, i had to go down to ICA to collect my new SVP. This is itself would get a whole post, but i'll jz summarize. On Friday, I went down to ICA and to the non-Singaporeans (and some blur SG ppl) its Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to apply for an extension of my SVP (Social Visit Pass, i told you SG ppl are crazily in love with ACRONYMS!).
Here's how it went down on Friday, rushed down to ICA.. oh no.. this post is turning to my Friday post... oh well, might as well. Ta daaa
Friday!
Had two lessons in the morning about writing an introduction. Dunno if 06 and 21 really learnt anything cuz they were all, i dunno, sounded quite blur to me. But i hope they did benefit from it, at least a little... a tiny bit...? Oh well, i tried.
Then after that, went down to ICA with Sean and Sam who got his friend Andy to tag along. At ICA, we went to the 4th floor after ignoring the millions of people trying to give out flyers, for i don't know what courses outside ICA. Then we had no idea what to do cuz the MOE papers came with no instructions so we went to the information counter and asked the lady there. She seemed like a noob. But what chance do mere mortals have against the almighty ICA? I mean, check out their logo. Its like, fully equipped with Bars and Chains! I mean, that's not a very nice thing to welcome people with. If you dun believe, go and search for the logo urself. I would have uploaded it here, but i realised they are too insignificant to have a place on my blog.
Anyway, we talked to the noob looking lady who gave us a queue number and a form to fill up. We happily walked along, until we realised, the form was for APPLICATION OF A STUDENT PASS. Like... what the... this noob lady didn't understand what we wanted to do. Or so we thought. So Sam went back to ask, and the lady say fill it up. But it needed a photo, and a local sponsor (which actually meant MOE) so Sean went to ask again, and again she said just fill the STUDENT PASS APPLICATION form to apply for an extension of the SVP. Im like, there couldn't be a less confusing way of doing things ryte?
So we waited patiently for 20 numbers to scroll by while marking AQs (so my students, in case u're wondering why u got not-too-nice-looking markings, haha, u know now) and eventually our turn came and when we went to the counter, all they had to do was collect our MOE letter, PASSPORT, STUDENT PASS and EMBARKATION CARD!!
So now, there we were, 4 foreigners in Singapore with totally NO IDENTIFICATION except a QUEUE TICKET telling us to come back tmr form 9 to 12. And to make matters more interesting, Sam who went to a diff counter had to fill in an Embarkation Card as well, and could only collect a week later than us... Unfair.. Discrimination against Vietnamese i tell u! Haha! =p
Okay, so i thought my day was over so i headed back to school to see the ending of the movie screenings. Met cass on the way and i had to whine abt feeling so insignificant at the moment with only a queue ticket as my identity. Txs for listening and sorry to her friends who were like, stoning there while i was talking though. But had nothing to do aft that and didn't feel like intruding into LT1 so talked with Sam (a female Sam) until i reached Gamma's house party. Met Shujing there too! And Jaren as well, with some guy doing a dance on the table *looks away*
Then walked on to the scope and was a little curious why so many 21-ers were there. Then i saw 06 ppl there as well. What luck, both the classes that i teach were having learning journey on the same day! Saw Ms Tay and Mr Neo there. Apparently Mr Neo said something abt being smart and TJC which the girls weren't too happy abt. Then i met even more interesting girls. The ultimate bimbos of 06. Im not gonna mention names but the four girls who were taking photos at the scope know that its them! The funniest moment was when _ _ _ _ _ _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ _ bumped theirs heads into each other. Classic bimbotic moment lar!! They were totally cam-whoring while waiting for the bus to arrive
The bus was late by 45 minutes apparently. And to make matters even better, it went to AHS instead of TJ. Like.. hello, i know there are lots of AHS ppl here, but there are NO TJCians in AHS... But anyway, i should be thnakful that the bus was late cuz in the end, i decided to follow them on their learning journey.
The bus ride wasn't too bad, not too long and Shuming tried to use Malay. Not a bad attempt! =) But i think the others were wondering what we were saying. Haha. Too bad. Go learn Malay! Then finally reached the SCDF (acronym once again, go try and figure it out k?) museum and we were already an hour late.
The tour guide guy was nice and friendly, and at times, he suan-ned the old Fire Brigade of SG. Funniest one was the part abt the Fire Truck which things could fall off and firemen had to jump off, pick the stuff up and climb back on. We started making jokes abt how firemen most likely died jumping off the truck than fighting fires itself. But then again, its top speed was only 16km an hour, so the house probably burnt down to ashes before the fire truck actually came. Poor thing...
We continued listening, had the chance to go into one of the fire trucks and took pictures. Then Abishek cracked one of the exhibit's plastic covering. Oh well, he's Abishek anyway. And he was unanimously sabo-ed to wear the fireproof jacket and the Power Rangers looking helmet. Picture of the day man!! Ferena if u have the photos of today, i want ok? Pls! Txs!
Then went on looking at other exhibits, and confirmed that two particular girls were really bimbos when they banged heads... AGAIN! Im like.. *AHH*-the-way-u-know-it
Then we finally left after taking a group photo. Went to Peninsula which is a real musicians hub cuz of the tonnes of guitar stores and what not. Bought 4 picks for $2, not too bad a deal and gave one back to Alvin whose pick i broke some time ago!
Then, since i actually left TJ without anything other than my HP and a cashless Student EZLink card, i got John to pay for my bus trip back. Well, it's fair cuz they persuaded me to come in the first place! But im gonna pay him back. Chills.
Mass dance test was going on in TJ at that time, but before i reached there, i stopped to see the soccer girls practising set pieces. At least that's what it looked like. Had a bet with Shermin that the wall wouldn't dare to jump and head the ball away but according to Shermin, they would. Oh well, didn't have the chance to see them actually head the ball cuz most of the freekicks were off anyway. So i guess the bandung is gonna have to wait ya Shermin.
Saw the ending of the mass dance test. The only part worth mentioning is the fact that it was completely hillarious how the 30th didn't have the gate key and they were actually locked in with the nominees and had to ask the climbing club for a favour. Oh, and they failed the test btw, retest on Monday. Sigh. So pitiful.
Ate dinner with the councillors and then headed home. Slept!
And now, back to saturday at ICA
Reached ICA in the morning, about 9, got my queue number and waited like 1 and a half hours when the estimated time on the board said 10 minutes!!!11!!1! Evil ICA... The place is so freaking crowded they actually have yellow boxes to prevent traffic (human) from blocking access. I was like, even a building needs yellow boxes, and some ppl obviously dun know what yellow boxes are cuz i was queuing, and trying to be a good foreigner, i didn't step into the yellow box and so the queue i was in had a gap. And one guy jz blatantly ignored the 3 metre queue behind me and stepped into the yellow box. Never mind. Im sure one day, u'll get ur reward.
Waited like forever and since the numbers weren't called in sequence, i had to constantly keep a lookout while marking newspaper journals. Sean came too and he had to wait as well cuz they conveniently skipped both our numbers. When it was finally my turn, the sly and cunning ICA played their last evil trump card.
At the counter, i stepped up rejoicing that my wait was finally over. Before i could finally get my identity back, the lady at the counter said i had to pay $40 for my 3 month extension!! Im like, u took my passport, embarkation card and everything without mentioning a single thing abt payment, and when i wanna get it back, they say, please pay $40!! Im like... (i know is sounds bimbo with all the "im like" but seriously) how sneaky can they get??? I mean, if i dun pay, who am i in SG without a single piece of identificatoion (even my queue number was in the lady's hand!! arrghh!!!)
And that's not the best part yet. I gave my bag to Sean to hold while i walked to the counter, so i told the lady my NETS card is in my bag, i'll take it in a few seconds. She said NO. Go and sit down, i'll call ur number agian. It's "FASTER" this way... I was like.... so pissed but didn't let it show. So i walked 1 metre back took my bag and sat down. So lame. The lady then called like 5 numbers which nobody showed up. In the end, she only served one person before calling me again. What a waste of my time. I could have jz grabbed my NETS in 5 seconds, paid in 20 and be gone in 5. That's like 30 seconds. Which she wasted on each number which NOBODY was there.... ICA... I suggest u tear down ur whole building and let me restructure it. ON second thought, the council nominees could even do it. I mean, it shouldn't be that hard to make foreigners life slightly easier?
Okay, enough of whining, back to real life, it was time for music prac, and by now, i had forgotten the whole ICA drama. Did my washing of laundry by hand before i came and i was early. So slacked in the youth room a while as Melvin was changing the strings of his baby (a golden e-guitar) and Meredith was there too and i listened to Lose Myself. The "recorded" version. Literally from PC speakers. Haha. And Meredith's Zen is so cool lar. It's 30GB so its no Nano and her house PC owns even more lar. The Hard Disk is 320GB!! That's like infinity -1 songs!
Okay, soon we headed up for prac and it was nice and good! We, at least i felt, we sounded better this week than last and overall it was a fun time practising. The two hours plus jz flew away and soon it was back to the youth room. A few hungry guys decided to go down to SPC and get something to eat. After taking infinity -1 minutes, we bought our stuff and on the way back, the girls from the band were on their way. Haha. so funny cuz when we reached back, we finished our food and called the girls to buy something back for us. Haha. Vanessa bought some cheese puff snack. Too bad Melvin doesn't like cheese. But we te and couldn't finish it. Soon it was pre-service prayer and this time, i was on the guitar.
Haven't played the accoustic in ages but i tried my best. Sorry it didn't turn out too good. But Chellie gave a nice sharing and we had a corporate prayer (looks at Chellie) HAHA! The new Tortex pick i bought was put to good. It already looks worn out after me using it for ONE pre-service prayer. Lolz. At least the bass picks are holding together.
And soon enough, prayer ended and the musicians rushed up and almost chased the YM out as we rushed for our sound check. Did some minor practising and then headed off. Prayed and then it was soon the start of a wonderful praise and worship!! It didn't start off too well with Lose Myself, but yay cuz we're getting new praise songs introduced other than the milked-it-for-all-its-worth-according-to-Rachael older songs.
Worship You Alone by Planet Shakers is a really good song!! And we didn't even have time for our last song God of Miracles but it was still fantastic!!
Aunty Aye Lan did a great job in covering for Ps Mark who's coming back today from Karen's with our amazing missions team!! And after that, we slowly packed up and reluctantly left after preparing... oh wait... can't say now. Haha! *winks* if you wanna know, ask me. TOP SECRET till.. u will know when lar.
The whole cell didn't want to go for dinner so i decided to go to SPC for a quick bite. My dinner was a Cornetto cone. $1. Haha. Then walked back with Winnie who took 38 home which is more convenient for her. Talked abt council. Haha. Don't we always. Oh, i whined abt my SVP to her as well. Lol. I should whine less. =p
Sunday
Now today is still in progress so here is a halftime report.
Day started off well with Mei Yian arriving second, followed by James, FX and BS. No idea when Grace or Matthew arrived. Didn't see Su-E though. Jeremy didn't come either. Sads...
Today, i'll jz skip to the point that really inspired or rather, wow-ed me. The praise and worship today only had TWO musicians. And the drummer half way through the service switched to become the pianist! Cool eh? But Ps Janet explained why. God had told her to give the musicians a 3 month break. Sounds like fun ryte? I mean, i've never seen a church giving 80% of it's music team members such a long break! But here's the coolest part. After that, when they're back from the 3 month break, they will form a core team that will play every week for the next three months!! The commitment!! Plus, they will fast a meal i think everyday and spend loads of time praying more than practising. WOW. They are really serious abt God. And i think the CFC musicians could learn from the adults who are setting such a good example.
Ps Ang preached on Spiritual Potential but the song that really meant a lot to me was this.
Chorus:
Standing here now, with my mind and emotion,
I make a vow, to give all my devotion,
All my desires, i place You above,
You are my God, You are my very first love.
Its an old song, but such a hard song to sing. God takes our vows seriously, and it even says that this is not one of those emo-ish songs where u say stuff u dun really mean, but its a slow song and says that we're praising God with a focused mind, that has thought through the cost to make a vow of devotion. A devotion to place God above all my desires. I took it seriously today. And Holy Spirit, please help me get off my Starting Block.
Shout outs
Phildia-Poly starting soon. All the best and lol abt the knight in shining armour!
Pras and Ahdiah-Congrats on the silver. I mean it (=
Zsa-still praying for ur knee
Tristan-eat well
Yumei-don't give up!
Cass-For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline 2 Timothy 1v7
Jaren-keep up the good work
Kawai-don't give up!
Winnie-txs for e walk!Labels: Abishek, Ahdiah, bimbo, cass, Ferena, ICA, Learning Journey, Picks, Ps Janet, Sam, SCDF, Sean, Shermin, ShuJing, Shuming, Soo Ming, SVP, Vow, Winnie

# New Thursday
Haha, a quick little post before i run off for lessons again with the "new and improved" 03/07. Yups. Today has been quite eventful. Started off the day by seeing Mr Eugene do pull-ups and then came back to the igloo (read : staffroom) in the antartic (spelling error, i know).
Then the day got livelier (looks weird, maybe sp as well) as me,siok n aaron went to print the masterpiece crossword puzzle. i had the discounted 65 sheets while Siok and Aaron had 75 each. Within minutes we were done although Siok almost printed it wrongly as she's forgotten how to place the paper as Aaron gave a yawny-warning.
Left the place with our masterpiece but to ur horror, no.39 was missing! and so were two clues... So sad. So the masterpiece was actually incomplete. And Siok, who wants to save trees, decided to print it all again. We were like, write it on the white board lar *laughs together*
Then we decided to give clues and be nice RTs, which we always are btw =p so i surfed the net for pictures and created a rather nice automatic slideshow and soon it was time for lessons. Clues ranged from .... wait... i can't write it here or 21/07 will know the answer. Phew..
Yeah, it was a nice slideshow! Technically and aesthetically, for me at least. Met the new 21/07 in CR232. They were late, but considering their rojak combinations, I jz let it be. And after quite a while, they were all in except Shuming. She was at a medical checkup apparently but then she appeared right after my lesson... so suspicioius... the plaster must be fake! =p
The lesson was ok, i think. Maybe 21 could give some feedback? Did intros the way Ms Kwan did it with the old 04. Not too bad as i could roughly, very roughly, remember most of their names and associate them with relevant CCAs (cuz uniforms, are well... uniform) And they like Spanish footballers and chocolates. Then did the current affairs quiz with 5 groups. Here's how they fared. I think.. hehe
Polo Group - 7 - Winner!
Touch Group - 5 - Close second
Guys -1 - 4
Choir - 4
Soccer - 3
Me - 2
Haha, sorry if the scores are wrong, but yeah, i actually scored 2 points cuz they all got 2 questions wrong. Guys-1 cuz the last row were all guys except for Yee Wen (i think thats ur name? hehe) Choir cuz of SY (dunno her full name, and Valerie), Soccer-shermin and sarah, Polo-cuz they were all in TJ Polo (and Jianhui was spot on for them). Touch cuz of A Dell, ok ok, Adele and Yasmin.
Conclusion of this quiz
-they don't read newspapers
-Jianhui must have been lucky =p
-my laptop or the class is haunted
Then went off for lunch as today was Fryday. And Mr Eugene was late cuz of a Rubik's tutorial. Haha! Then as I was leaving, Phildia came back in with 21! Yay! Nice to meet her again and the first thing she said was that i cut my hair. And Zhi Yuan had to comment that my head looked smaller. Then talked with Phildia, Julie and the rest lar. Followed them to chem lab lesson with Ms Tay.
Phildia apparently doesn't like tall ppl. Or jz me. Haha. And it was quite funny cuz Ms Tay actually let Phildia in. And she was in a purple England top. Must have looked so weird. Oh oh, Julie is SLOW. haha
Then walked further on and saw Mr Eugene in the chem lab. And even funnier was Jojo who was stealing chemicals *sounds the alarm* Haha, so sad that the IP lab had no chemicals so she had to steal 4 bottles with droppers. Looked so funny. Yeah. Aactually thats all i wanted to blog about. Haha. Chemistry is so funny. First with Phildia in the lab in outside clothes, then JoJo stealing chemicals, and finally Ms Quah letting the students out late. And those students were 06. Im gonna see u people soon!
Alrights, back to being a tutor now..Labels: Aaron, Adele, Chemistry, Eugene, Jianhui, JoJo, Julie, Ms Tay, Phildia, Shermin, Siok, SY, Valerie, Yasmin, Yee Wen, Zhi Yuan

# More Than Life
Monday
Okays, after emo-ing on sunday, life continued like normal. Still feeling happy but lazy to shift. But I got it done anyway. But that's later. Morning was quite bad. Dunno why I was so drained. I already had the Sunday to myself and still I was tired. Oh well.
But i reached school as usual and really the blur me forgot to bring my laptop charger. So I had the laptop but no power. So it had to run on battery and to make matters better, Jonathan borrowed my laptop for a lesson he was relieving. So when it came back, it had thankfully lots of battery left, but still, i had a lesson to prepare.
Not having my own laptop is so weird, doing a Current Affairs Quiz on an alien laptop just feels wrong. So i tried to get it done by 10am by sending the file back to my laptop. Tried to get the usual images for background but for some absurd reason, i was blocked from Google Images Search page! Why?? Why?? Just beside me, Siok's was working just fine... So I tried to rush it but to no avail as only 2 questions were done and thats more like a question than a quiz. So I went to 06 with totally NO lesson planned.
Thank God they didn't expect one either. Haha, so I basically wasted time with admin stuff, except the feedback part which was the real thing i needed. Then we went off to take pictures. Quite funny how most people were in their ties and others were casual. But we took pictures anyway. More to come this Friday I think!
Then after cam-whoring and getting a nice 4-piece poster, i went back to the staffroom. Did the daily crossword although i lost to the Siok-Neha-Aaron group, i still managed to finish it with random letters here n there. Then Aaron got us a ride to Quality Hotel where our celebratory lunch was to be held. Siok and I were laughing over how it sounded so fake, like : Buy this Quality Detergent or Use Quality Noodles. Sort of the Minyak Angin Cap Kapak sort of thing... Only Malaysians will get it i guess. And Qquality Hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Oh well.. We waited quite a while but no complaints when u get a free ride in a private car of Mrs Neo, so it was cool.
Reached the Grand Ballroom after everthing had started, and the few of us in the car sat down at a table. I ate too much. Haha, but its a buffet, you're meant to eat too much ryte? I ate
-Olive Rice
-Roast Chicken
-Sweet sour fish
-Beef stew
-Hong Kong Noodles
-Some veggie... why???
-A second helping of chicken n fish. haha
-Laksa
-Chicken rice
-Cakes for dessert
-Drank orange juice and water
It was good food, but not excellent or I would have exploded. Walked with Eugene, Neha and JoJo to the MRT and MRT-ed back to Bedok. Took 31 to the back gate which was wonderfully locked so I walked the long way around. Oh well... Met some games com ppl and then some SCIP dudes and two dudettes. Few councillors were around too and they were loud. SC is loud. That's cool.
After a while, heard a familiar tune from the piano. I knew it had to be Evelyn. Yay!! One of my wish list came true!! I didn't have a guitar around but I'm not complaining. Sang quite a few songs, listened to some from 5300. It was nice. Evelyn had quite a few nice songs i've never heard of before. Even a Malay one. Haha, but Hari Ini still rocks. Oh, and sorry if i sang really bad hor Evelyn. Then after a while, Zico wanted to talk to her so i stoned around and allowed my food to digest. Then talked to Eng, who was later joined by Evelyn. The SCIP dudes seemed to be busy with the video. No idea how that's gonna turn out but ever since my year, Orientation videos have been awesomely cool. Seriously, the videos are reason enough to turn up for orientation ok?
Then after that, Evelyn left to get the JAE Posting results. Perks of being in SC. mua ha ha ha. But in the end, she didn't get a hard copy of the list, so sad, but she had a long time talking. And i didn't see her after that. Smart move Evelyn. The $4000 of orientation shirts arrived and we helped Eng get it into the scroom which has the world's MOST horrible lock. Called Steffi to get the combi, but the dial is such a horrible one that my fingers were hurt. But I randomly turned the thing and after half an hour (not exaggerating), it fell open. Phew...
Counted all the t-shirts and hauled them into the council room. Then stayed around a while before leaving for dinner and home.
Read the newspaper like a good GP tutor while eating dinner and finally told Aunty Lily that i was moving out. Somehow, i think she knew i was going to ask. But it was cool. Went smoothly and i went back to finalise the packing. Was waiting for the cab peak hour to end at about 8 and dragged majority of my stuff down. Flagged a cab and the uncle was friendly. Cost me $3.20 though. I reached my new home.
No one was in. An eerie loneliness was in the air. Unpacked my stuff slowly. Didn't quite like the smell in the room but i will survive. Decided to take a walk back home to make sure im familiar with the surroundings. Had a nice slow walk in the night home alone. Took about 25 minutes?
Part Two (a) of my wish list came true. There was FX who sms-ed me and we started to chat. Then there was Winnie. Then Aunty Kaith. Then had mom too. There were so many people msging me. Haha. Sort of funny how my wish came through digitally. Was nice to be not "lonely" on my last night in my now-ex house. Here's the complete list of ppl that I msged or msged me for various reasons.
-FX
-Winnie Chew
-Aunty Kaith
-Mom
-Stephanie Sim
-Anantha
-Cheresa
-Zsa Zsa
Looks like the only GP rep here missing is...you would know urself la ya? But no biggie. Jz had a nice night. End of Monday
Tuesday
JAE Day. Not a nice day. Shall skip everything that happened. Wanna know, talk to me? Haha. Blogging isn't everything. Just had a very low atmosphere. Fast forward to the nice part of the day, lunch with 06
It was so nice of them to decide on Gelare at Siglap instead of Far East so I had time to go with them. Had a long time waiting, and a less, but still long time ordering. But it was worth it. Had a nice time eating, chatting, and most importantly like any 06 outing, taking photos. Took some really nice ones, maybe 06 u could gimme some links for the photos of the day? Sorry goes out to Diantha who has the scariest photo of me ever. And to those i got the camera flash in their eyes. But overall it was a nice time and i took forever to leave. Darn...
Was late (yet again) for badminton at Chai Chee, but the remaining 45 minutes was worth it. Sweated a lot but had a nice game. Shot of the day, cross court from my right to the left which was almost horizontal and only about 2-3cm above the net and landing just inside with no chance to Sean. You had to be there to see it. Hee...
Then headed back to school, the long way from the interchange and got a Big Gulp. Sat around with some SC ppl and then went to the Audi. Then went home, rushed a bath, went to old house to surrender the key, collect deposit and toothbrush *winks*, went to tuition, which the family provided me with dinner, and taught tuition. Then crashed home. I was so tired... Slept till today, 6.50 instead of 6.15.
Wednesday
Yup, I was late. No surprise so I rushed out of bed, up my hill and down the six-sided dragon. School started rather differently with a mini farewell to Mr Liu. Mrs Pang takes his place as he goes off to be a principal. Mr Cecil takes her place. Then had nothing to do in the staffroom. Met some of the OGLs like Xuewen, Cai Yu (? hehe), Julie, Yumei, Shermin, and many more students.
Met Teik Kheng today and helped him with his printing and stuff. Realise I have lots of things to get done as well. Oh well. Had lunch with 21, rather, OG13 (which is sadly nameless) and talked with them. Talked to a few, maybe just one or two 2nd intakers. A cedarian. VJ reject, appealing back in. Overall, a lack of enthusiasm, characteristic of O2
Then after lunch, met Ms Lau and talked to her a bit. Then met Xuewen and Cai Yu and later on other students like Song Han and Jacob, Nicole. Then met the other RTs and Heri and Sam. Yup. Had the tribal music group who were really good perform. Potentially illegal information, they cost $1500 an hour, so yeah, they were really good. Too bad im not a tribal music fan. Found out Yumei isn't either. Hehe!
Then almost missed staff conference which had no relation whatsoever to the RTs and then had department meetings. Never knew colleges knew both the paper 1 and paper 2 grades of the students. Also, TJ Lit did extremely well. 71% Distinctions, 40% above National Average. Econs S also had 80% Distinctions. So thats some good news. Then had the bad. If i get the soft copy of results, they'll be here ok? For GP only lar of course.
Then debriefed about the English Fair. Had many comments. And i did bring up the fact that the blogs lagged like CRAZY. But also that most people bonded through this English Fair and got introduced to a variety of GP issues within the first few weeks. Many confidential details were also discussed. Haha, my students must feel so curious now. Oh well, nothing much, but there will be changes for the next EL Fair.
After the meeting, Im here in the staffroom. Back to marking I think.Labels: Cai Yu, English Fair, Evelyn, Gelare, Jacob, JAE, Julie, Nicole, packing, pictures, Quality Hotel, Shermin, wish list, Xuewen, Yumei

# The Race Continues
Sunday
Sunday was good yet again. Except for the minor issue of being late for pre-service prayer. Oh well, Ms Tong will be early next time im sure (= Praise and worship was awesome, Particularly liked the pause they did for the bridge of “I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever” to the chorus. The timing was spot on, and I’ve never heard any band do it like that before. Cool. Gotta try it out back in church in Malaysia. *BIG SMILE* Preaching was by Ps Ang who shared on… hmm, can’t quite remember exactly what the title was, but something about how everyone should be ready to serve *takes out a jug and a bottle to remind those who were there*
Then we had a quick cell talk with prayer for BS n Jeremy who are in NS and those who weren’t there. Hope to see you guys ard soon. Then it was off to lunch at Toa Kong for chicken rice. First time I wasn’t with cell for lunch. But it was cool. Headed back to home then to church for bass lessons. Just confirmed that I will be playing on the 24th. Yay, my first time in YA. That will be an awesome time to remember. Aand if anyone wants to come and see if I can actually play a bass, stop by Emmanuel, Hall 3B at 7.30pm on 24th k? After bass, headed home and slacked. Did the basics of housekeeping for my clothes and rested.
Of course not before I created my most creative PowerPoint presentation on the family ever. But then again, think it might be too lame for some to stand (pun so intended)
Monday
I was so ready for classes today and 21 and 06 were in for the lamest of my powerpoint slides ever. Soon, ok 10am, it was time for my lesson with 06. They were not really awake yet except they wanted chocolates. So here I justify my stand that chocolates are for everyone, not just primary sch kids! *winks to shuming* Yup. It went well. At least that’s how I felt it went, haven’t read any comments on the lesson though.
Then it was 21’s turn for the ice-cold lameness. But somehow, Phildia and Shermin were all prepared, with every type of ammunition to get all the chocs they wanted. But, alas, I was quick to find out the perpetrator who leaked the info. It was none other than –yingen- who has a pre-dated post on 06’s blog, this December! I tried to backdate it but not sure if it works. And 06, I understand the tortures of putting up a post, so in the end, not ur fault if ur blog doesn’t win. Yeah, back to what yingen did, she told Phildia all the answers! Then Phildia got a few chocs instead of just one. Shermin too. *faints*
Yeah, that was the lameness for the day, but after that, it was back to serious work at Tao.. darn.. Toa Payoh for Physics. My favourite chapters – Kinematics. Looks a lot like cinematics, except much more fun!! Yup, two hours of linear motion. So fun (not sarcastic) *glares at those who hate physics*
And the day didn’t end there. Took 36 home, which was much smoother this time and then walked a bit… actually quite a lot, to Jean’s to teach her functions. Ok, more of a refresher course cuz she actually knew all that already. With maths out of the way, it was time to have a look at Jean’s laptop. It now comes complete with a bag which satisfies criteria no. 1 and doesn’t look fugly like the ones at Funan. First thoughts, it was Huge. A widescreen yes, but wide enough to be cut into half and used as two separate laptops. Hehe. But nonetheless, that meant more arm-rest space which is so often overlooked this days. I have issues with the mousepad though. Too hard for my liking, but it does the job. Scroll functions also a bit screwy. Hence the need for a real-physical mouse. But that was cool, did blog surfing, and talking and eventually went home before I was 100% sure I would be a zombie the next day
Tuesday
Today was slightly better, in terms of classes cuz I only had one. But still, I had to survive till 1 before I should go home to get my full paycheck. And it’s now certain that my paycheck per day is 65, no CPF for me. Sobs a little. Maybe would be more if I knew exactly how much I am missing in terms of free government money.
Class with 04 went well, except they should have collected their quizzes a tad earlier. Intro of lameness was cut short as I spent more time on the current affairs quizzes. But not to fear, Thursday promises more lameness to come.
Then I left the school earlier than ever. 2pm. Wow, had so much time I actually read the Straits Times. Which was good, except there was this article criticizing the Malaysian Public Sector. Not sure how true it is, but yeah, they would have been imprisoned under the ISA if they were in Malaysia. And a note to Malaysians, Singapore does have its own version of the ISA and they are no trying to hide it. Every student in TJ got a handbook on the ISA which ws mostly used for throwing around at people since it was quite thick. Full use of a few hundred trees to inform the youth on this important legal issue. *kicks one around as I walk into class*
Had a nice nap, till it was a little too late for my favourite dinner so I tried kuey teow goreng from a malay stall. BIG MISTAKE. Malaysians take note again : Mamak is always better in Malaysia. Finished it nonetheless. Wished it was less though. Oh well, slept not too well as I woke up at 3.30 thinking it was morning. Brushed my teeth and went back to sleep. Bet the toilet had a shock seeing me. Cuz apparently my Wednesday hair was either too or not “stuck up” *ignores Zsa^2 and Co. laughter* (=
Wednesday
The big assessment day. Started lessons off with 21. This time they were like, majorly sleepy. Not even top gear could wake them up. Then again, there are only 6 guys in the class. Maybe Barbie would do a better job? Oh well, an interesting survey followed and we found out there was one single-parent family in 21. Shall keep class matters private. Mean family size is 4. Had a good argument and that was the lesson for the day.
Had a quick break and it was 06’s turn for the 5-way family fued. Corrected to Feud by 21. Txs. So I didn’t throw my face in front of the assessors with a glaring error projected nicely in their faces. Gave 06 a toilet break at the stroke of half time. Another pedagogical error as Ms Tan and Ms Ng walked in to a half empty class. Discussions were a bit suppressed for “some” reason as 06 toned down a little with the presence of Big Sister(s). Hehe. But it was good, and once again quite personal. 06 has all 4 family types except the Alternative. Which gave me an initial shock as Ying Ling put up her hand. I was really really surprised that someone was from an Alternative Family, only for her to realize Meng Ting must have given her the wrong info!! Yeah, after much result editing, the majority was Nuclear with a 2 for all the others.
Discussion was not too bad, though I overran time yet again. With the assessors walking out, I had no idea and still have no idea how I fared. But it was fine in my opinion. No chocolates though. Dun worry 06, you guys didn’t disappoint me. Hope the lesson was appropriate for an assessment though.
Then I came back to the staffroom all alone. Decided to slack in the scroom. Had my own lunch. Then went for the English Fair Finals.
It didn’t disappoint. Will put the YouTube link once I get hold of it. Watch it, it will be worth your time. Most enthu CG goes to 14 but best acting goes to 28. Most entertaining however would be 27. Winner via sms-voting was none of the above though. Go figure.. I still am.. I did the video-ing btw, so if its really bad, do tell me and I’ll get another career instead.
Memorable scenes include the “merry-go-round” of Youth Body Image, the “president of taiwan’s departure” of Political Apathy, the “rape of Amy” in Child Sex Exploitation, the many horrors of Academic and Social Pressures and the overall accents of Elitism. Do take a look.
After that, it was off to Chai Chee CC for two hours of badminton. My skills were a bit better now than it was in Malaysia. Maybe should try playing with Eugene someday. Stamina was a whole different issue though. I wondered to myself how Phildia plays too. Maybe one day I can find out. If she beats me, well, I’ll treat her to lunch? But it sounds so biased ryte, a guy vs a girl. But she looks like she could thrash me by the way she mentions her glory days in her blog. Plus my stamina needs lots of work, cuz in one 15 point match, I was already exhausted. At least I lasted almost two hours in normal play.
After that, we sat around. And sat around. Then it wasn’t so round, but we still sat. There were other people who were quite ok, but nothing spectacular. (I think im starting to see things… must have been blogging for too long I thought a circle ran and hid behind an msn conversation). Headed for dinner at the interchange but the highlight was the watermelon dessert. Interesting. The entire $7 of it. It’s this huge watermelon cut in half, with circular scoops of watermelon, longan, peach, syrup, ice and other random stuff like straw (for drinking lar…) and stuff… Then headed back on 197 which I needed Neha to tell me which stop or I’d be wasting more money. Walked back exhausted but still did laundry. Yaynesses. So now I have clothes to wear once again. Then went to sleep. Of course I did more blog surfing after typing out my junior’s junior msg in SC. That was the end of a wonderful Wednesday.Labels: Assessment, badminton, I could sing of your love forever, Jean, Kinematics, Phildia, Shermin, watermelon dessert, Yingen
