# Lose Myself
That's the title of the new song we sang at YA today, once again by Jeff Deyo. Im gonna start with my saturday post cuz weekends jz rock because of church!!
Saturday
No tuition this morning so no need to wake up early. But i still had to wake up early. Sounds so lame. But oh well, i had to go down to ICA to collect my new SVP. This is itself would get a whole post, but i'll jz summarize. On Friday, I went down to ICA and to the non-Singaporeans (and some blur SG ppl) its Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to apply for an extension of my SVP (Social Visit Pass, i told you SG ppl are crazily in love with ACRONYMS!).
Here's how it went down on Friday, rushed down to ICA.. oh no.. this post is turning to my Friday post... oh well, might as well. Ta daaa
Friday!
Had two lessons in the morning about writing an introduction. Dunno if 06 and 21 really learnt anything cuz they were all, i dunno, sounded quite blur to me. But i hope they did benefit from it, at least a little... a tiny bit...? Oh well, i tried.
Then after that, went down to ICA with Sean and Sam who got his friend Andy to tag along. At ICA, we went to the 4th floor after ignoring the millions of people trying to give out flyers, for i don't know what courses outside ICA. Then we had no idea what to do cuz the MOE papers came with no instructions so we went to the information counter and asked the lady there. She seemed like a noob. But what chance do mere mortals have against the almighty ICA? I mean, check out their logo. Its like, fully equipped with Bars and Chains! I mean, that's not a very nice thing to welcome people with. If you dun believe, go and search for the logo urself. I would have uploaded it here, but i realised they are too insignificant to have a place on my blog.
Anyway, we talked to the noob looking lady who gave us a queue number and a form to fill up. We happily walked along, until we realised, the form was for APPLICATION OF A STUDENT PASS. Like... what the... this noob lady didn't understand what we wanted to do. Or so we thought. So Sam went back to ask, and the lady say fill it up. But it needed a photo, and a local sponsor (which actually meant MOE) so Sean went to ask again, and again she said just fill the STUDENT PASS APPLICATION form to apply for an extension of the SVP. Im like, there couldn't be a less confusing way of doing things ryte?
So we waited patiently for 20 numbers to scroll by while marking AQs (so my students, in case u're wondering why u got not-too-nice-looking markings, haha, u know now) and eventually our turn came and when we went to the counter, all they had to do was collect our MOE letter, PASSPORT, STUDENT PASS and EMBARKATION CARD!!
So now, there we were, 4 foreigners in Singapore with totally NO IDENTIFICATION except a QUEUE TICKET telling us to come back tmr form 9 to 12. And to make matters more interesting, Sam who went to a diff counter had to fill in an Embarkation Card as well, and could only collect a week later than us... Unfair.. Discrimination against Vietnamese i tell u! Haha! =p
Okay, so i thought my day was over so i headed back to school to see the ending of the movie screenings. Met cass on the way and i had to whine abt feeling so insignificant at the moment with only a queue ticket as my identity. Txs for listening and sorry to her friends who were like, stoning there while i was talking though. But had nothing to do aft that and didn't feel like intruding into LT1 so talked with Sam (a female Sam) until i reached Gamma's house party. Met Shujing there too! And Jaren as well, with some guy doing a dance on the table *looks away*
Then walked on to the scope and was a little curious why so many 21-ers were there. Then i saw 06 ppl there as well. What luck, both the classes that i teach were having learning journey on the same day! Saw Ms Tay and Mr Neo there. Apparently Mr Neo said something abt being smart and TJC which the girls weren't too happy abt. Then i met even more interesting girls. The ultimate bimbos of 06. Im not gonna mention names but the four girls who were taking photos at the scope know that its them! The funniest moment was when _ _ _ _ _ _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ _ bumped theirs heads into each other. Classic bimbotic moment lar!! They were totally cam-whoring while waiting for the bus to arrive
The bus was late by 45 minutes apparently. And to make matters even better, it went to AHS instead of TJ. Like.. hello, i know there are lots of AHS ppl here, but there are NO TJCians in AHS... But anyway, i should be thnakful that the bus was late cuz in the end, i decided to follow them on their learning journey.
The bus ride wasn't too bad, not too long and Shuming tried to use Malay. Not a bad attempt! =) But i think the others were wondering what we were saying. Haha. Too bad. Go learn Malay! Then finally reached the SCDF (acronym once again, go try and figure it out k?) museum and we were already an hour late.
The tour guide guy was nice and friendly, and at times, he suan-ned the old Fire Brigade of SG. Funniest one was the part abt the Fire Truck which things could fall off and firemen had to jump off, pick the stuff up and climb back on. We started making jokes abt how firemen most likely died jumping off the truck than fighting fires itself. But then again, its top speed was only 16km an hour, so the house probably burnt down to ashes before the fire truck actually came. Poor thing...
We continued listening, had the chance to go into one of the fire trucks and took pictures. Then Abishek cracked one of the exhibit's plastic covering. Oh well, he's Abishek anyway. And he was unanimously sabo-ed to wear the fireproof jacket and the Power Rangers looking helmet. Picture of the day man!! Ferena if u have the photos of today, i want ok? Pls! Txs!
Then went on looking at other exhibits, and confirmed that two particular girls were really bimbos when they banged heads... AGAIN! Im like.. *AHH*-the-way-u-know-it
Then we finally left after taking a group photo. Went to Peninsula which is a real musicians hub cuz of the tonnes of guitar stores and what not. Bought 4 picks for $2, not too bad a deal and gave one back to Alvin whose pick i broke some time ago!
Then, since i actually left TJ without anything other than my HP and a cashless Student EZLink card, i got John to pay for my bus trip back. Well, it's fair cuz they persuaded me to come in the first place! But im gonna pay him back. Chills.
Mass dance test was going on in TJ at that time, but before i reached there, i stopped to see the soccer girls practising set pieces. At least that's what it looked like. Had a bet with Shermin that the wall wouldn't dare to jump and head the ball away but according to Shermin, they would. Oh well, didn't have the chance to see them actually head the ball cuz most of the freekicks were off anyway. So i guess the bandung is gonna have to wait ya Shermin.
Saw the ending of the mass dance test. The only part worth mentioning is the fact that it was completely hillarious how the 30th didn't have the gate key and they were actually locked in with the nominees and had to ask the climbing club for a favour. Oh, and they failed the test btw, retest on Monday. Sigh. So pitiful.
Ate dinner with the councillors and then headed home. Slept!
And now, back to saturday at ICA
Reached ICA in the morning, about 9, got my queue number and waited like 1 and a half hours when the estimated time on the board said 10 minutes!!!11!!1! Evil ICA... The place is so freaking crowded they actually have yellow boxes to prevent traffic (human) from blocking access. I was like, even a building needs yellow boxes, and some ppl obviously dun know what yellow boxes are cuz i was queuing, and trying to be a good foreigner, i didn't step into the yellow box and so the queue i was in had a gap. And one guy jz blatantly ignored the 3 metre queue behind me and stepped into the yellow box. Never mind. Im sure one day, u'll get ur reward.
Waited like forever and since the numbers weren't called in sequence, i had to constantly keep a lookout while marking newspaper journals. Sean came too and he had to wait as well cuz they conveniently skipped both our numbers. When it was finally my turn, the sly and cunning ICA played their last evil trump card.
At the counter, i stepped up rejoicing that my wait was finally over. Before i could finally get my identity back, the lady at the counter said i had to pay $40 for my 3 month extension!! Im like, u took my passport, embarkation card and everything without mentioning a single thing abt payment, and when i wanna get it back, they say, please pay $40!! Im like... (i know is sounds bimbo with all the "im like" but seriously) how sneaky can they get??? I mean, if i dun pay, who am i in SG without a single piece of identificatoion (even my queue number was in the lady's hand!! arrghh!!!)
And that's not the best part yet. I gave my bag to Sean to hold while i walked to the counter, so i told the lady my NETS card is in my bag, i'll take it in a few seconds. She said NO. Go and sit down, i'll call ur number agian. It's "FASTER" this way... I was like.... so pissed but didn't let it show. So i walked 1 metre back took my bag and sat down. So lame. The lady then called like 5 numbers which nobody showed up. In the end, she only served one person before calling me again. What a waste of my time. I could have jz grabbed my NETS in 5 seconds, paid in 20 and be gone in 5. That's like 30 seconds. Which she wasted on each number which NOBODY was there.... ICA... I suggest u tear down ur whole building and let me restructure it. ON second thought, the council nominees could even do it. I mean, it shouldn't be that hard to make foreigners life slightly easier?
Okay, enough of whining, back to real life, it was time for music prac, and by now, i had forgotten the whole ICA drama. Did my washing of laundry by hand before i came and i was early. So slacked in the youth room a while as Melvin was changing the strings of his baby (a golden e-guitar) and Meredith was there too and i listened to Lose Myself. The "recorded" version. Literally from PC speakers. Haha. And Meredith's Zen is so cool lar. It's 30GB so its no Nano and her house PC owns even more lar. The Hard Disk is 320GB!! That's like infinity -1 songs!
Okay, soon we headed up for prac and it was nice and good! We, at least i felt, we sounded better this week than last and overall it was a fun time practising. The two hours plus jz flew away and soon it was back to the youth room. A few hungry guys decided to go down to SPC and get something to eat. After taking infinity -1 minutes, we bought our stuff and on the way back, the girls from the band were on their way. Haha. so funny cuz when we reached back, we finished our food and called the girls to buy something back for us. Haha. Vanessa bought some cheese puff snack. Too bad Melvin doesn't like cheese. But we te and couldn't finish it. Soon it was pre-service prayer and this time, i was on the guitar.
Haven't played the accoustic in ages but i tried my best. Sorry it didn't turn out too good. But Chellie gave a nice sharing and we had a corporate prayer (looks at Chellie) HAHA! The new Tortex pick i bought was put to good. It already looks worn out after me using it for ONE pre-service prayer. Lolz. At least the bass picks are holding together.
And soon enough, prayer ended and the musicians rushed up and almost chased the YM out as we rushed for our sound check. Did some minor practising and then headed off. Prayed and then it was soon the start of a wonderful praise and worship!! It didn't start off too well with Lose Myself, but yay cuz we're getting new praise songs introduced other than the milked-it-for-all-its-worth-according-to-Rachael older songs.
Worship You Alone by Planet Shakers is a really good song!! And we didn't even have time for our last song God of Miracles but it was still fantastic!!
Aunty Aye Lan did a great job in covering for Ps Mark who's coming back today from Karen's with our amazing missions team!! And after that, we slowly packed up and reluctantly left after preparing... oh wait... can't say now. Haha! *winks* if you wanna know, ask me. TOP SECRET till.. u will know when lar.
The whole cell didn't want to go for dinner so i decided to go to SPC for a quick bite. My dinner was a Cornetto cone. $1. Haha. Then walked back with Winnie who took 38 home which is more convenient for her. Talked abt council. Haha. Don't we always. Oh, i whined abt my SVP to her as well. Lol. I should whine less. =p
Sunday
Now today is still in progress so here is a halftime report.
Day started off well with Mei Yian arriving second, followed by James, FX and BS. No idea when Grace or Matthew arrived. Didn't see Su-E though. Jeremy didn't come either. Sads...
Today, i'll jz skip to the point that really inspired or rather, wow-ed me. The praise and worship today only had TWO musicians. And the drummer half way through the service switched to become the pianist! Cool eh? But Ps Janet explained why. God had told her to give the musicians a 3 month break. Sounds like fun ryte? I mean, i've never seen a church giving 80% of it's music team members such a long break! But here's the coolest part. After that, when they're back from the 3 month break, they will form a core team that will play every week for the next three months!! The commitment!! Plus, they will fast a meal i think everyday and spend loads of time praying more than practising. WOW. They are really serious abt God. And i think the CFC musicians could learn from the adults who are setting such a good example.
Ps Ang preached on Spiritual Potential but the song that really meant a lot to me was this.
Chorus:
Standing here now, with my mind and emotion,
I make a vow, to give all my devotion,
All my desires, i place You above,
You are my God, You are my very first love.
Its an old song, but such a hard song to sing. God takes our vows seriously, and it even says that this is not one of those emo-ish songs where u say stuff u dun really mean, but its a slow song and says that we're praising God with a focused mind, that has thought through the cost to make a vow of devotion. A devotion to place God above all my desires. I took it seriously today. And Holy Spirit, please help me get off my Starting Block.
Shout outs
Phildia-Poly starting soon. All the best and lol abt the knight in shining armour!
Pras and Ahdiah-Congrats on the silver. I mean it (=
Zsa-still praying for ur knee
Tristan-eat well
Yumei-don't give up!
Cass-For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline 2 Timothy 1v7
Jaren-keep up the good work
Kawai-don't give up!
Winnie-txs for e walk!Labels: Abishek, Ahdiah, bimbo, cass, Ferena, ICA, Learning Journey, Picks, Ps Janet, Sam, SCDF, Sean, Shermin, ShuJing, Shuming, Soo Ming, SVP, Vow, Winnie

# Can't Live A Day
Firstly, I just wanna tell people who don't already know, what Good Friday (look above, it's scrolling. haha) is really about.
Well, the story is very simple. Nobody is perfect. So people make mistakes (sin) right? So we have to pay the price for it. Woulnd't it be good if someone else paid it for us? That would be the essence of Good Friday! Jesus paid the full price for everyone's sins today when he was crucified. So yup, there you go, everything forgiven and entry to heaven secured on this simple account of God paying the price for us. That's GOoD!
Yup, and my Good Friday was spent mostly in FX's house and Emmanuel. Fast forward the fact that I woke up late, i quickly (as quick as i wanted to at least) rushed off to FX's house although i was late. But partially, i blame my forgetfulness cuz i went out of the house 3 times before i remembered to bring everything i was supposed to bring. Haihs.. Oh well, 12 came after a while, and 155 was perfectly on time! So no waiting for the transfer too!
Then FX must have been quite scared why nobody there yet so she msg-ed me, and James also, but the super-quick me was already on Telok Kurau road and arrived within minutes. Sat around and waited for BS, ordered pizza. Played Scrabble while waiting. James had no vowels, i had no consonants. FX had nice letters (or words as she claims it) all the way! So unfair...And the game actually looked quite pro cuz we could build quite a few words side by side. Haha, it "looked" pro cuz all the words are like primary school words lar... haha.. so much for the intellectual cell.
BS arrived and then we ate pizza and Gabriel arrived too. All the rest weren't gonna come except our special guest Winnie! We decided on a movie to watch, or rather, since we were all so undecisive, BS jz picked one. The worst one i think. Windstruck. If anyone EVER watched this before, give me a shout or a comment ya? Pls, i wanna know why u watched it in the first place.
Ok ok, the story wasn't that bad, except the ending felt like it went on longer than a zombie's lifetime. Why? Cuz we all knew the guy was gonna die, and when he did, we could also predict how he was gonna die. Oh, that just proves that only the beginning was nice. So, back to the horrible ending. Let's put it this way, the show was supposed to be emo and we should all be feeling bad for the girl who lost her bf, but then, THE WHOLE CELL WAS WAITING AND LONGING FOR HER TO JUST DIE!!! Stupidly frustrating. And the girl in the movie is such a loser lar.. she jump off a 30 storey building also cannot die... -.-''
Yeah, once we were done with our frustration and fed-up with Knocking on heaven's door being mutilated by Korean singers, we played BRIDGE!! Yay, the main highlight of the outing! Too bad we could only play two rounds before FX had to go and change. Which btw took forever. Girls really need to exlain why it takes so long to get changed. Really. I mean, like, seriously, really really.
Then we walked to church, oh wait, to the St Pat's bus stop, jz that it felt like church cuz it was so far. And paying 65c per ride sucks. but at least it was a ride to church! Along the way, things i found out
-Winnie has ONE bag (=
-FX needs other ppls bags
-Birds congregate and have a common toilet, evident from their deposits that concentrate at certain areas.
-Singapore is hot (duh...)
Then we were actually on time for service and it was quite funny how Matthew was in a cab right beside us. Haha. Service was good, although it felt a little rushed, but other hightlight was Su-E came. So had time to catch up with her a bit and all. And oh oh, Su-E, if you ever read this, gimme a tag cuz i met ur RGS friends at FIREfly assesment round 2. Charmaine and Debbie. Oh and Hi to people from the Superhero Group if any of you are reading this! HI (=
After service, we parted our own ways. FX, MY and BS went to FX's to.. er.. i dunno. Gabriel went to meet up with his KC friends. I mean JC. lol. what a typo. I headed down to parkway for dinner with Su-E and we caught up on the past 3 months. Found out that Tao Nan doesn't have the brightest kids in Sg, contrary to popular belief. Believe me, there are BIG exceptions!
After that, i think Su-E had some other appointment so i headed back to Sennett and slept. End of a good friday (=
Saturday
Busy day, thank God had no tuition today or I would have died. Woke up, didn't eat lunch, went for music prac, which started disappointingly late. Already this week had to evac hall 3B by 3, we still started 30 minutes late. That's like, 1800 seconds late. And if one second had two crotchets, that 3600 notes wasted. U get the picture...
We did everything except the new song, which i thought was a huge mistake, cuz we spent quite a lot of time trying to polish up simple things, when in the end, we actually did the new song. But i liked the new song, it's meaningful and slightly different from how all the other songs we sing sound. If you're wondering, we did Evermore (PS), Can't Live A Day (YouthAlive), Jesus I Surrender (JD), Worship You.. (PS)
Lets fast forward to after prac, went to the youth room and finished up as much a si could, my Think Big presentation for FIREfly. Then went to beer garden at ard 4 plus for a weird lunch then back to youth room. Helped out with the "Attack of the Aprons". Sounds so weird ryte. HAHA, well, that's YA for you! Then went for musicians and preservice prayer.
Soon it was service. It didn't start out too well as Evermore was a little too upbeat and I couldn't catch the timings for Can't Live A Day. And try jz saying these lyrics, they qualify to be rap lines. Really
"God you are my God, You are my all, And everything I give to You oh Lord"
which is like sung in one breath, and it goes up all the way. Not easy for me to sing. But who ever said i could sing anyway. Haha. Then after that was continuation of Tenets of Faith which was delayed by an extra long annoucement time. Cell's moving to weekdays now!
After that, it was off to beer for dinner. And sorry to XiuYu for always running off whenever i meet u. Haha. I guess u didn't go for SYF? Catch up with ya again ya! Then had Emil (or Edmil) im not sure, from Sweden, who's like, Sarah's bf eating with us. Quite cool. He can use chopsticks. Yay, but was slower than FX at eating lar, so that's not too fast. Hehe! But then again, it was $4 of char kway teow he was eating, so i guess its balanced. Then headed home and slept. Yay. Sleeping rocks! *winks to shuming!*
Ressurection Sunday
I think Ressurection Sunday has more meaning than Easter sunday, cuz i dunno what Easter means. Oh, yeah, Yumei, Here's my Easter Post! Hope u reach until here to find it! So what is Easter really all abt, well, it's like, the most important part of Christianity.
Basically, u now know how good it was of God to pay the price for us on Good Friday right. But it would be no use if God paid the price and died. Christians would be serving a dead God, and that's like so pointless. So here's the most significant day, when Jesus was ressurected from the dead, proving that when we believe in God, we also can have victory over death. Not that death (the worst disease in the world, with a 100% uncureable record) will not come to Christians, but the curse that comes along with death, which is eternal seperation from God has been broken!
So basically, resurrection sunday is really an awesome time when we can remember that we are really saved and serving a living God who has conquered death so that we don't need to fear what happens to us after we die. And no, i don't believe in re-incarnation or transmigration of souls. There's only one chance to get to heaven. That chance is now.
So sunday started off really nice, with the whole place decked with nice palms and orchids. Surprise of the day, Su-E came in a dress! Haha, how often do you see one of those! Another surprise, there were 3 worship leaders! One from Chinese Service, one from Main, and our very own lovely Rachael!!! *cheerss!!!* There were even kids too and we did Jesus You're My Superhero in the main service!! So cool and funny!
Sermon was also really funny with the translation having "extra ingredients" compared to the english version. Haha. Really funny. Then went off to lunch, and then to church to help ShuJing
Stayed there for almost the whole afternoon and the whole evening. Jayne, MY, ShuJing, Meredith and I came up with the wonderful CFC board for the prayer room. Hall 3A in Emmanuel will now be open from Thursday onwards at night for anyone to come and pray! Cool huh! Think i will make it a point to drop by before i head home.Of course, i wanna see the lovely (though grossly oversized) board we made. Haha, looks so CFC-ish! And sorry to those of u who think i used un-glam photos of you as the background. Ultimate photo goes to Meredith. Haha!
Then went home and realised the internet at Sennett has broken down... So sad... That's why no updates for so long. I sms-ed ps Mark and he said i could go back to church. So nice of him. Love u lots Ps Mark!!! And he is going with the whole Karen team he next day to Thailand. Still let me come and use the wireless in church. So i stayed in church and finished up my Think Big and chatted a bit too.
Ate this fruit which is supposedly planted in Sg. That's right, PLANTED in SG! So rare right!! But not for long cuz e government is gonna close the plantation down. WHat fruit, u might ask? Well, i dunno, its nothing i've ever seen before. It's like an oversized banana, with rockmelon shape and a juicy taste. Yeah.. it's... yellowish?
Oh, i even got a ride back! Yay, did my laundry, ironed and everything and slept big day on Monday

# Open Up The (Uni) Gates
Saturday
Its a day of Open Houses. Today's schedule was Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and then Heart of God Church (hoGc). Woke up on time and wasn't late. Looks like my saturdays are improving and becoming less piggish. Had a quick breakfast and then left for Tanah Merah MRT to meet Winnie who was so kind to help me settle the open house arrangements when i was lost at a particular bridge @ Yumei's. It was really quite funny and i totally refuse to accept the stack of tiles cuz i was on the phone ok Diantha. U r still the champion! =p
Yup, back up the hill and down the dragon and 12 was not too slow. Met Winnie at the control station who was on time. Mark of a good councillor. Hehe. Council rocks! Lalala. Ok, it was a long ride from TM to Boon Lay. Note to people who design Unis in Singapore. Did you guys have the map of Singapore when u designed it? Or did u guys throw darts to choose a location? Even so, it was quite a bad throw.
Oh well, that jz meant more time to chat abt council life and the MRT wasn't exactly empty till City Hall... Oh well, council always has lots of stories, but i interrupt this post to tell u that apart from Diantha, Fang Xian is also the queen of blurness. Here's the low down (pun intended, if u get it)
Fang Xian called Winnie to ask where we were and we said we were on the MRT on the way to NTU. Then she asked, when are u guys going to NTU. We were like... LOLZ... but oh well, its FX so shes always forgiven for being blur. Diantha, u can share ur mahjong tiles with her. Yeah, ok back to the MRT ride.
We talked almost all the way and when we reached Boon Lay, Winnie's friends were supposed to meet her there but considering they weren't from council, they were obviously late (I am being super biased, I know). Winnie tried to give them a call but with all the construction work, all she could get out of the conversation is that one out of the group was at Buona Vista. And the rest of the group wasn't even there yet. So we headed off to queue for the shuttle bus to NTU. Nice thing is that there were signs and student ambassadors there to guide poor little lost sheep along. Unlike NUS!! Ok, more on comparison later...
Waited like 20 minutes for the bus to come and finally spotted Winnie's friends arriving. Saw some TJCians too like Carine and Zhi Zhong, Timothy. And when they arrived, so did the bus, so yeah, we were there early for almost nothing. But at least we got to NTU on time. Once there, they had nice ppl on the bus and nice ppl to hand out goodie bags the moment i got down. NTU ppl, if you're reading this, ur open house was better than NUS IMHO. And then Winnie and I wondered into SBS (School of Biological Sciences), what an uncool acronym. But it served its purpose cuz I remembered where we got off.
Then later after much asking of questions to ppl at the booths, we moved on to the Quad. (why i remember the places' names, i dunno) and saw some of the CCA booths. Quite cool. And the best part was the seniors. Talked with a few and even met Fung Shin there who i am now asking questions to find out mroe abt NTU. Met Rachel there too who was in red. Haha. Blended in with NTU-ians. I dunno what they call themselves. Any suggestions?
-NTUnians
-Nanyangnites
-NTechies
Okay I give up.
Then we heard some interesting rumours like what PRCs are called in NTU and terminology for retaking a subject. And the best part abt not using the microwave oven cuz apparently some smart ppl use it as a dryer for socks. Why??? Universities are supposed to house smart people. Intelligent people. Why.... Yeah, found out more about hall life, took a meaningless tour for the sake of the aircon. Had some free Milo and a hotdog and drink which cost $1. Winnie took for me while I organized the "recycling" materials in my NTU bag.
And then the blur queen (FX, not you Diantha in case u're wondering =) called us and asked us to meet her at URECA. But by the time we were at URECA, she had already left and we also missed the movie with Winnie's cell. So we just slacked around in a rather homey NTU. Met Jayne there too! Some NYJCians and TJCians as well who were there for some talk on econs. I think they ponned the remainder of it. Sorry ya NTU. U guys have to make this sort of stuff more interesting hor..
After that, we decided to take the MRT out of there and so we headed to SBS, ahha, and then MRT-ed to Dhouby Ghaut. And unlike councillors, we decided on where to eat pretty quickly, ordered ate, and bumped into Sarah twice and then finally the blur queen and Gabriel. Then walked out to DG and then to hoGc. This is the next part of opening the gates.
Never heard of Heart of God Church before except from what Ps Mark said that it was modelled after City Harvest Church. And from the reception, it was apparent. Ushers from the first door, up the stairs, reception and at the doors. All in neat black. And the crowd was sort of like CHC as well with queues to get in. Finally got to our seat and some had to move later on. But it was rather hot in there but it was not too bad.
After a while, the service started with a new song. It started off with a bass solo by a female bassist. She looked cute. Haha, but the t shirt she was wearing was a little too scary for me. Haha. Skull with halo and wings. Hmmm. Oh well, she is a really pro bassist. And so is the rest of the worship team. Didn't know any of the songs but the ppl there were really enthu. Yup. If one word could summarize them, it would be "WOW" with some pun intended. Hehe.
Then after the great praise and worship session with 100% new songs for me, it was announcement and tea-time. Announcements were ok, and tea-time means testimony time in my church in KL, but yeah, they had awesome testimonies. Even had awards for those who scored L1R5 of 21-25 and below 20 and some for A levels as well. Basically, a church who don't ignore academic excellence (AE as they call it) and the biggest testimonies were from the best improved student from E,O,F for A lvl Prelim to A,A,B. Insane!!!! and O Levels, drop from L1R5 of 49 (so hopeless ryte?) to 27. thats like, a drop of 22 points!!!
Then had the Valentine's day testimonies as well of how they impacted their schools and also the Northbrooks Revival video. Wow. Really professionally done to tell and even greater story of true revival. Yup, after the awesome tea-time, it was time for Ps Glen Berteau.
He shared an awesome message of How People Turn Their Backs on God from the parable of the sower. The biggest impact on me was how the deceiver (the devil) talks to you and takes away your desires. How does the deceiver sound like? Apart from resembling ultra heavy metal (hehe) screaming, it is usually very very subtle. He whispers...
- you don't need to do it now
- you still have time
- you can do it later
- you can do it the next time
To me, it was like... yeah... how many times have I heard that in my head. When I wanted to study. When I wanted to do QT, i can always do it later. It never tells me not to do it, cuz i'll know straight away that it's the devil. He's not that dumb to scare us away. It's always ever so subtle. procrastinate, take that extra 10 minutes. You need that one hour more of sleep. Just be late, its alright... So many times I've been deceived. Yup, i've realised.
And he also talked about how we will have pressure and we have to make a stand.
Overall, it was truly an awesome service and yet another item on my wish list has come true. Yup, and being in Malaysia now, all the 5 items on my wish list have come true. Txs God for reading my blog. I know you did (=
After the service, CFC talked a bit, and i met Fiona, the only TJCian in hoGc, who's from LEO, Leosis! Haha, so cool ryte! Yeah, talked a bit and introduced her to Winnie and FX but i think she would have forgotten, but I'm looking forward to meeting u in school! Yup, then we had dinner at Kopitiam in PS. FX was a little emo but it got much better when we were seated down eating. Must have been the headache. Wouldn't know.
Then had a long bus ride home. Michelle and Adeline also joined us on the bus. Then got off, stopped at 7-Eleven for a snack (yes I do snack once in a while *winks*) then took 12 back to Sennett. Met Cadence on the bus who was going home after O-Nite, sorry could't be with you guys, but I wouldn't have missed hoGc for anything else in the world!! Then reached home and slept after doing laundry. Yup. nice nice saturday.
Sunday
Sunday started off nicely, walked and arrived at church on time from Sennett. Yay. Occupied the 3rd row and left poor Gabriel alone in the 1st row. Haha. Ok,he wasn't alone, Sarah was there too but our cell wasn't. Hehe. Praise and worship was good as always! Hehe, good pre-service prayer with Roland as well. Then the word was by Ps Ang's brother, Ps Johnny Ang. On Psalm 23. If you know what Psalm 23 is by heart, give me a shout ya? Yup, he related it very well to Alzheimers disease as well which is his ministry in the US.
After the service, cell met up and had prayer quickly by Mei Yian. Yay, then had admin matters and James had to go off. Prayed for Matthew to get his appeal into TPJC from IJC and guess what, this should be no surprise but it still was to me, He got accepted into TPJC!! Yay!! God really answers prayers!
Then it was back to Sennett after church cuz I realised that I didn't bring any identification to get my NUS PIN reset. Had plans to meet Winnie who was once again the only person who will be going to NUS open house. Ying Chuan had a meeting at 2.30. Oh wells, with some msgs to Gabriel and Winnie, i set off first back to Sennett.
This is a special shoutout to Mei Yian who got me biscuits for my breakfast! Txs! Really do appreciate it! I LOVE MY CELL!!
Then after reaching Sennett, I went to Beer Garden to meet up with Gabriel and to have lunch. After that, Glanies came and with Melvin the only one left, I decided not to be glowing and left for Sennett once again. Why? cuz I forgot FX's letter of authorisation for the NUS PIN reset. Also cuz I had nowhere else to be while Winnie, Shujing and FX had their heart to heart talk with Aunty Aye Lan. So I played the guitar in Sennett while waiting and somehow things got messed up that Winnie was waiting for me at beer. Oh well...
Rushed down and it was nice to know that Shujing was joining us at NUS as well. Yay, so the 3 of us had a long long 10 bus ride down to NUS from Beer. Talked abt many things. And FX even called when we were talking abt her. Haha. Ok, so maybe Winnie can be blur, but u're still the queen FX!
Finally reached NUS and went in through the side gate at roughly 4 plus. Just followed the signs and walked abt 600m to the Open House. Walking was faster than waiting for the bus. Ironic. Then reached the main open house area. It looked really messy and we went to ask our questions. Got ticked off by the Office of Admissions guy who said i was rude for not using "please" when I asked if he had a pen I could borrow. Come on, I wasn't even demanding a pen,a nd his nice colleague nicely offered me one. Some ppl are jz so much nicer. And he kept on harping on the fact that I was rude. What a ... (Zsa Zsa, u can fill in a word here. lolz.)
Then got both our PINs reset and then went off to the ENG booth. They were so helpful. Asked me to look at the website to get info abt the syllabus. So what was I doing at the open house. Lame... And the people were so firerce, shouting al over the place when giving announcements. Blah. Jz got irritated by NUS. Took a campus tour which didn't help cuz the two people inside jz told us what the stops' names were. I could have read that myself, no thanks to you. And finally got back.
Met XiuYu while queing up and finally took the MRT back to Dover. Shujing had a car to get her.Nice ryte? Oh well, then I MRTed to Bedok adn almost missed my stop. Did my shopping at Parkway. And to my classes, I bought some simple stuff for u guys for next term. Bought some chocs for my teachers too. Haven really thanked them yet.
Actually did quite a lot of roaming ard Giant. And also stopped by LIFE to see if All Of The Above is out yet. No such luck. Even Never Stop by PS isn't out yet. Oh well, it will be soon I hope. Then came back home, and then slept.
Monday
Monday was much faster. Did more schoalrship stuff, sat in a mock interview with one of the groups, bought my bus ticket. Reached home safely. Yay. And after a wodnerful night's rest and a full day of blogging and pigging. Im here once again.Labels: campus tour, female bassist, Fiona, Fung Shin, FX, hoGc, Microwave, NTU, NUS, Parkway, ShuJing, Winnie, WOW, Zsa^2

# And Back Again
My keyboard has this back button which I now officially hate. I typed like 1000 words already into my post and it goes back to my blog page. So I shall jz summarize.
Took 170 to Kranji. MRT to BEDOK. 197 to home. 12 to Sun Haven for Pastor Mark's BBQ. There, that took about 1000 words. Just had so much to say. Ah, well, it's just a blog. Life's more important (= And friends too. So I shall now focus on friends.
TRAVEL TIME : 3 hours
Winnie Chew
Very kind of her to sms me multiple times to assure me of the way to Ps Mark's house. I still got lost and became the hopeless wanderer of Upper Changi East Road. But she recued me by coming quickly on her bike and showed me the way. At least 5300 kept me company. Sorry you had to be so hot n sweaty though by cycling uphill. And txs for the directions to Sun Haven. Txs for the talks as well cuz my cell wasn't around.
Bertrand
Nice talking as well, especially about Uni life in NUS, National University of Slopes. Great job in learning how to cycle too. I still need to learn the ramps. Not easy. Txs for getting the food too. Yay. And the big curry bun as well. Nice to have someone accompany me at least halfway back. 24 only, no 12, but that's good. Half in a certain numerical way.
ShuJing
Nice talk as well. Well, you certainly have a short (5) but hard list for guys to live up too. Think I shall start my proper list soon too. Mine was too long the last time when YA did search for intimacy. Fun to talk as well about other tandom stuff as well. Yay (=
Random other YA members
Nice to see you guys enjoying urselves at the BBQ, with the swimming and cooking (txs so much for cooking ya Sunny) and talking and card playing. Yup, Roland doesn't know how to play bridge, Bertrand doesn't know how to play bridge "properly". Blur King. Chellie won with him though. I didn't win... Oh well. The game was still fun and that matters the most. Had a nice time there. Yay.
And next day, it was back to school. My busiest day ever.
Wednesday
Started off normally, although an apparent lack of sleep was still haunting me. Did my unprepared double lesson with 21 and 06 on the A-G articles. Thank God the articles were good ones or I would have died in sorrow and regret. Why would an assignment NOT be in the Resource Package, one would ask. TJ must have an answer somewhere... Arrghhh. Lessons went on quite well. Transparencies were stolen from the tropics. Pens as well. Should return them sometime soon. So irresponsible of me
Got back a tonne a GP essays. Which I had totally no time to mark. I dunno why also today. So went for lunch with the RTs and had quite decent Malay food. Cuz the other stalls were closed... CNY CNY CNY. Oh well, Cheena society. Then headed back for staff conference. Which was a bore and the RTs hid in our little enclave. Got more oranges which i gave to JoJo. Highlight of the Staff Conf was the new personality test, the Strength Finder which TJ will use in place of our MANEly Shirley, the BIG 5. Cheaper, less questions and sounds more meaningful. Can't wait to know my top 5 strengths.
Beverly Leong
Just remembered her. JY, do you? Due to some "mistakes" we started chatting again. Nice to hear updates on Brunei since APYAC 2005 (my most life impacting conference thus far). Am so jealous of you lar... Hillsong London... WAAA... I wanna go there too... Yay, found another person who can MSN at work. Muzikarten sounds so cool. Yup, this wednesday sort of marked an old reunion.
Back to life, staff conference dragged so i had to cab down to Toa Payoh (yay i spelled it correctly!) Cost me $9 but helping is still worth it. Gave 2 hours on Electricy and Current plus a bit of E-Fields. One of my weaker topics. Gotta revise more before the next tuition. Qquickly MRT-ed down to Bedok once again and took 197 to Ngee Ann Primary.
Jayne Tong
You've been a great friend and sorry I missed church twice already when u sms-ed me. Txs for the concern. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't even have discovered Emmanuel. So it was really my pleasure to cover for your tuition classes. Congrats and praise God you passed your test. Too bad the AH-BENG beside you didn't. Hee.. Txs for all the sms-es as well telling me what to do and warning me about the kids. Artif and Xerxis weren't that horrible, thank God or they would have been strangled and killed by me. Txs to Stephanie too for lending me the marker which saved my life. Tuition went smooth. Not sure if they understood though. Sorry ya if that's the case.
That capped a very busy Wednesday. Was so tired I jz bathed and slept. Thursday came sooner than it should have...
Thursday
Was very tired in the morning but still got the verse of the day out to FX n MY. Reached school and did a quick post. Then started my first real torture of RT-ing, marking GP essays... Which was scary cuz it felt like all that I have thought turned out to be almost... NOTHING. JY, even ur brilliant GP sample couldn't save them. Majority failed and almost all gave me a headache. Yup. Major braincell deaths recorded today. But it was much better after lunch txs to one enlightened script. Hint? Who's that freak?? Even Ms N said it was good. So happy. Really made my day. But still, it couldn't revive the brain cells. It was time for 04 in no time. Shall skip this lesson cuz of AP once again with the handing in of work.
Then went back into the staffroom and tried to mark. Just couldn't and Ms N gave me advice to go home and rest. I honestly looked shagged but tried anyway. Went to scroom and slacked a lot and they had an emo meeting so i left. Only to realise dinner was too near to go home now. So i stayed back and met yumei and yingen. Who ponned training to complete the GP essay. So touching. Really. Of course their ICs knew they were doing work lar. Had quite a nice talk and realised we were all brain dead. Sorry Shuming it had to be ur essay that i marked when i was brain dead.
Julian came along and i played random guitar. Karyn Anne Yzelman. Cool 3 word name ^^. Talked abt commonwealth essay. Abt JCs, Maths and random stuff. Hope I helped more than i talked rubbish. Then I had dinner with Julian and walked home. Tired. Slept. Did laundry. Slept. End of Thursday
Friday
Was a much better day. Had lots of lessons though and ran out of time for 21's presentation. Hope they actually were learning ways of writing an argument. And swimming... 21... beginners... late... arrghh... oh well. 04's lesson was better this time. 06 was... echoey. But good, i think. Then had lunch straight away. Then slacked with 21. Talked a lot of stuff. Like Johnathan's. Actually, now that i think abt it, dunno what we talked abt also. So much rubbish. Remember Phildia covering my view of her with a Nike shoebag. Julie's cute, green, zipper earrings. ZhiYuan and Mr Tong.
Ng Di Hui
It was nice meeting you from the start in 07/05. Yeah, nice to know a Malaysian when I first came here. Been great doing projects with you, txs for the tonnes of advice given when i couldn't see the full picture most of the time in sc. Nice talking to you, although it was short. And you got to know the chio bu. Haha. Talked and walked around a bit and soon it was time for Badminton @ Chai Chee CC
Went to staffroom, then scroom cuz i left my wallet there. Played badminton. Stamina better, shots better, only one of the stupid-turn-around-back-shot which i actually got the point! Bought a 100+. Enjoyed myself and walked back to TJ. Crashed Unick but no tbefore seeing 06 under LT1. Poor Jaren too. Swee Liang looked busy. Prasanthi, Jack jack, Karilynn all got themselves busy too *hint, i knew what u guys were up to*
Mr Eugene was in TJ U, I was in smelly, sweaty Nike Tennis top. But it was fun. Talking with dIA_chEESE (capitals right?) and Zhi Yuan. Then the dIA met her Dear Adriano. Got her two pic with him. She was obviously high. But it's always nice to see people high in a happy mood. Aate pizza. Got told to quickly eat the pizza and throw away the cup by an SCIP member. Funny, ironic and ... err.. nvm.
Took a photo, or two with the 21-ers who came. Then sat far back as they moved to the front. The first group was bad. Second item was normal. Third was... Adriano. Sorry Phildia, but his voice wasn't outstanding leh? Fourth, pointless? But enthu nonetheless. Talked with Mr Eugene and Mr Tong. Mr Eugene whacked a student real hard. Hehe. Ouch, but she asked for it. Then she tried whacking her friends. Haha. Zsa Zsa was late. But she didn't enjoy it too much at the start. Apparently the ending was better. Glad she had fun!
Mr Eugene allowed me to hop onto his cab on the way home. Yay. Bathed and went to Jean's. Played mahjong, but onyl 3 games. Watched the rest. Also, I had to learn the chinese numbers for 1 to 9, from a burmese girl. Hahaha. Weird and small world eh? Khant Khant or KK and HH were Jean's colleagues from Kelly's Services. Nice and cheerful bunch of ppl. Better than me at mahjong though cuz even the worst (HH) won at least a game. Me, none... But it was nice talking with them and seeing Jean's Prom pics as well.
Came home and did this long post. Yay, feel accomplished. Busy day tmr. Nitez blogLabels: 04, 06, 21, Adriano, badminton, Bertrand, CNY, Di Hui, GP Essays, Jayne, Johnathan, Julie, Mr Tong, Phildia, ShuJing, Unick, Winnie, Zhi Yuan
