# An Update
Heys! U're nineteen already! Hope u managed to stay awake the whole day! And if you read my blog early enough, you would know that Huiks has planned a little surprise for u with ur section after band today! Have a blessed 19th! Txs for the biz tour once again!
And what's up with the rest of the world? I know Zsa had a change, Caiyu is on holidays, a pig was locked out of her room, prelims would have ended for most of the J2s, and promos are starting in 5 days. Yumei has had her ballet test? Not very sure what else has been going on, but hope to be updated frequently (= (although im guilty of not updating my blog)
What's been up with me? I had a statics (EG1109) test on saturday, which was not too nice... Didn't know how to do the first question. Second was MUCH better! More marks, yet easier. Yay for that, but how to describe a 3-force member.. I had no idea. If I could have things my way and it was ungraded, I would say a 3-force member would be a person who is a part of a force by the name of 3. Haha.. too bad it was a graded test.
Moving along, this week I had my first Computing Lab. What do you do in a CS Lab? You write programmes. I balloted for even week (which comes after odd week) and I got it.. sadly. Odd week's algorithm was given to them,as in, they knew how they were to calculate their result. but for us (the even week lab), we had to use the entire result of the first week, modify it, and figure out our own (o o o haha) algorithm! Cutting a very long, frustrating and stressful story short, the final product was called day1.c and day2.c. Both these programmes are less than 0.1 MB yet, it took me about 4 hours of coding it!! (no0b programmer =)
What does day1.c do? If you key in a date in DDMMYYYY format, it will tell you what day (Mon, Tues etc) it was/is/will be. Cool eh? but day2.c takes it a step further. Let's say u want to know the date of the 2nd Sunday of March in 1989. U will simply have to key it in, and my programme will tell you the date! Cool eh? okay, i used "cool eh" already. Need better vocab! So yes, if any of you want to try out my programme, drop me a line! Hehe
Next, what happened? I don't know, THursday is still onlt 11 hours and 34 minutes old. After a delicious Tuna Cracker breakfast, and QT of course, Im here blogging. Break week is coming up, and I shall go back. Anyone free on Friday next week? Feel like crashing TJ! So if anyone is free, drop me another line? Most likely a lunch or something like that. YUP!
Ok, life in uni. For those who want to come to NUS, here's a quick reality check for how it will be like. Engineering is slack. Yes, it is. Medicine/Pharmacy/Dentistry/Nursing is not, but Engin is. Business is not that slack, arts is also slack. If you want to go to arts, u MUST be able to do readings. And, from there, be able to generate ideas from REAL LIFE examples/happenings. Engin? You need to love maths. Let's see..
EG1109-maths + physics
MA1505 -duh..more maths
PC1413-maths (integration particularly) + physics
CS1101C-maths + programming + creative logic
So yeah, don't come engin if you don't like maths in JC, and the pace of learning in uni is super accelerated. You learn new theorems and have to do the tutorial within the week itself, and next week, it's on to something new! So yeah, it's slack in engin, yet fast paced. So don't slack. Haha.. of course, if you are hardworking (unlike the me now) you will have great fun joining the CCAs and whatever not. Oh, one more thing, NUS is built on a hill (all implications apply)
It's time for lunch, but im lazy to go off and eat. So yeah, i'll just think of something to do, before leaving this place for tuition. Lalala... Bye ppl. Break week coming, Malaysia is coming! Hope i have a fun time both in Malaysia and Sg. TJ crash anyone?Labels: computing, EG1109, maths, NUS, TJ, XiuYu
the story ends like this;
