# Day 4 - JC Devos
Luke 10:38-42
42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Mary chose the good part, which shall not be taken away from her. We all have a choice to make. And if we don't choose the good parts in life, it will be taken away from us. Remember, we have an enemy that seeks to steal, kill and destroy. So every good part of your life that you do not choose, the enemy can take away.
The way the enemy does it comes in many ways, and for Martha, it was by giving her an alternative choice. Martha did not choose the good part of being in Jesus' presence and listening to Him. She chose to be cumbered with preparations, and thus her good part was taken away from her.
Looking further, there could be 2 reasons why she let the good slip.
1. She didn't know how to appreciate the presence of Jesus
Martha simply could not appreciate the heart of love and devotion her sister had for Jesus and thought it inferior to her "servant attitude" towards Him.
2. If she couldn't have it, nobody could
She invited Jesus into her house, and so was obliged to be hospitable. And thus, since she knew she was going to lose out, she wanted to drag others down with her. This alerts me of my attitude towards serving, to never deny people their chance of being in God's presence at the pretence of "serving God".
Finally, for YA Camp, I must not let the works get in front of the Person. It has to be loving Him and spending time with Him first, before getting things done.
